# Restrict Where Agents Connect From

> Restrict which IP addresses and CIDR ranges are allowed to open an agent session on your ngrok account, on top of authtoken authentication.

Agents that authenticate with an authtoken can also be restricted with IP
Policies that specify which IPs and CIDRs they may connect to your ngrok account
from.
The [Reverse SSH Agent](/docs/gateway/agent/ssh-reverse-tunnel-agent/#authentication)
authenticates with an SSH public key instead.
